2011 Davis Cup Draw is out!

The 2010 Davis Cup is not even over, but the 2011 draw is out! Waiting for the Serbia-France final from Belgrade, here are the World Group first round matches.

Starting with one of the countries my blog is about...

Romania - Argentina

After a perfect win from Romania in the play-off and a perfect... loss from Argentina in the World Group semifinals, the two teams will meet in next year's first round. Not the easiest tie for Romania, but totally not the worst. The two nations played against each other only once, but with a totally different generation of players, in the 1981 World Group quarterfinals, when Florin Segarceanu and Andrei Dirzu competed for Romania and Jose-Luis Clerc, Ricardo Cano and the big champion Guillermo Vilas for Argentina. The South-Americans won with a close score, 3-2.

Russia - Sweden

Soderling's Sweden will face the seventh seeded team, Russia. Russia has the first chance, although Sweden won four of the five matches the two teams played against each other since 1975. Anyway, the East-Europeans won the last tie, in 2002, when Marat Safin and Yevgeny Kafelnikov where the two heroes, bringing Russia three of their four winner rubbers.

Here you have the full Davis Cup draw.
