Semifinal for Mattek-Sands and Tecau!

Well, after this unseeded team played on Rod Laver Arena, and not once, (because they are the best!), they surprisingly stopped in the semifinals, in front of Yung-Jan Chan/Paul Hanley (Taiwan/Australia), 6-2, 3-6, 9-11.

In their road to this stage of the competition, Bethanie and Horia won over Lisa Raymond/Wesley Moodie [6], Sophie Ferguson/Marinko Matosevic and Sally Peers/Carsten Ball.

Next time, guys! Anyway, you're still the prettiest! :)

Nadal exits AO in tears

A sad moment happened today at the Australian Open. A clearly injured Nadal stepped on the court for his quarterfinal against countryman David Ferrer. But he didn't retire. He played the whole match, although at the final the pain (of the loss!) was too big.

"I had a problem during the match, in the very beginning," Rafa said at the press conference. "After that, the match was almost over. So that's what I can say. But you know what, for me is difficult come here and speak about. In Doha I wasn't healthy. Today I have another problem. Seems like I always have problems when I lose, and I don't want to have this image, no? I prefer don't talk about that today. If you can respect that, will be a very nice thing for me. Thank you."

Don't worry, Rafa! I don't think anyone thinks about you this way!

On the other hand, David Ferrer qualified in the semifinals of Australian Open, where he will face the fifth seed Andy Murray.

Lapentti announces tennis retirement

Davis Cup legend Nicolas Lapentti has finally decided to hang up his tennis rackets after an amazing career that has seen him loyally represent Ecuador for 17 years.

"As many of you already know, I have had an injury in my left knee and I've played with pain for the last couple of years," Lapentti said. "I've worked with great doctors but there is nothing they can do.

"It has been very difficult to take this decision. It makes me very sad to leave but I'm satisfied and proud because I've dedicated my career to play for Ecuador."

And we are satisfied because we've seen you in the circuit for such a long time, even in Top 10. As I said before, great player, great person. You will be missed, champ!

Match of the Day: Schiavone - Kuznetsova

Good news? History has been written in the seventh day of Australian Open. Svetlana Kuznetsova from Russia and Italy's Francesca Schiavone played the longest women's match in a Grand Slam, a delightful match for any tennis lover. Bad news? The Russian was not the winner. Schiavone won in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 16-14, and 4 hours and 44 minutes.

The decisive set lasted for three hours and Francesca saved six match points. This is the third three-sets victory in the tournament for the sixth favourite. Schiavone's QF opponent will be the top seed Caroline Wozniacki.

"I think she played good on match points," Kuznetsova said after the match. "I don't think I had easy ball any time, she was serving it all the time. It's hard to say. The match could go either way so many times. I mean, I think it just was really a day of Francesca. We both fighted so hard the whole match, and the important moments she just played better."

Don't worry, Sveta! There's always a next time!

Lopez/Monaco versus Bhupathi/Paes. Really!

During today's doubles match, Indians Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes got engaged in a verbal confrontation with their opponents Juan Monaco (ARG)/Feliciano Lopez (ESP). Just after the end of the match, Lopez accused Paes of trying to provoke him and his partner to enter into the third round. The match officials had to step in to calm down the players who started remonstrating on the court.

"He was trying to provoke us all the time," Lopez said, after the match. "We were a little tired of the style he was using on the court. We were playing, match was quiet and one of the players, he was trying to provoke us all the time.

"I know it's the style he been using the past 20 years. But that's okay. Nothing else," he added.

However, Bhupathi and Paes accused their opponents of 'bodyline' tactics, by drilling serves directly at them in a fiery encounter.

"It was heat of the moment,
" Bhupathi said, playing down a potentially nasty confrontation as the players came to the net to shake hands after the match.

"It's hot out there, we're trying to beat each other. A few unnecessary things were said. We just got into each other.

"Tried to raise the atmosphere," Bhupathi added after the third seeds had won their second round match 7-6 6-4.

Bhupathi said the opponents got hot under the collar about the Indians constantly yelling 'Vamos!' to fire themselves up.

"They really had no reason to be as upset as they were," he said. "I don't think they have a patent on that word."

Both Indian players insisted they were not guilty of 'sledging' -- a cricket term for trash-talking your opponent in an attempt to get under their skin.

"I've been using 'Vamos!' for about 16 or 17 years," said Paes. "Whether it's 'Vamos!' or 'Allez!' we're Indian. Nobody has a patent."

Unfortunatelly, I missed the match, but I am really curious of what actually happened. From a reason, I tend to believe the Indians, despite the fact that I supported Monaco and Lopez. Anyway, we'll wait and see...!

Radwanska stops Halep in third round
